Can you tell us how you came to open CiaoCacaoCake?

I’ve been working in the restaurant industry for over five years. At first, I planned to open a restaurant, but one day I wanted to surprise my family with a small sweet gift. In supermarket and pastry shops, however, everything felt too ordinary — too sweet and not very tasty. So I decided to create something of my own. I made a small cake in a box, known as a ‘bento cake’. Everyone loved it so much that I decided to try selling them. After three months of development, in the summer of 2022, I launched online sales through Instagram in Tel Aviv — and sold more than 200 cakes in just two weeks. That’s when I realized people truly loved my product. From there, I kept growing the brand, and just three years later, I’m recognized as one of the leading designers of cakes in Israel.

What difficulties do students usually encounter before joining?

Through my offline classes, I’ve met many students who rely on overly complex processes that aren’t suitable for mass production. Others struggle to pinpoint their challenges simply because they never learned the fundamentals properly. Even those already selling cakes or working in the pastry industry for years often find lettering cakes — a relatively new and highly popular trend —difficult to master due to the lack of clear instructional resources. And finally, many students face challenges when it comes to adapting to fast-changing trends.
